Connect Meta Ads to Kreel
Kreel brings your ecommerce data into one place. Once you connect Meta Ads, your campaign, ad set, and ad performance shows up next to your store revenue, email performance, and Google Ads spend, so you can see how paid social contributes to the business. You can also connect that data to your own AI agent over MCP or the CLI.
Before you start
Section titled “Before you start”You need:
- A Kreel account. Sign up at app.kreel.ai.
- The admin role in your Kreel workspace, since connecting a new platform requires it.
- A Facebook login with access to the ad account you want to connect, since you authorize the connection with your own Facebook credentials.
Connect Meta Ads
Section titled “Connect Meta Ads”- Sign in to Kreel at app.kreel.ai.
- In the left navigation, open Connections.
- Find Meta Ads and click Connect.
- You are sent to Facebook to authorize the connection. Review the permissions and approve. Kreel requests read-only access only (see What Kreel reads below).
- Facebook returns you to Kreel.
Select an ad account
Section titled “Select an ad account”One Facebook login can have access to more than one ad account, but Kreel syncs one ad account at a time per brand.
- If your Facebook login has access to exactly one ad account, Kreel selects it automatically and starts syncing right away.
- If it has access to more than one, Kreel opens Select Ad Account so you can choose which one to sync. Each account is listed with its name, account ID, currency, and status. You can reopen this picker any time by clicking Select account on the Meta Ads row in Connections.
If no ad account is selected yet, Kreel shows the connection as needing an account selection and does not sync any Meta data until you pick one.
What Kreel reads
Section titled “What Kreel reads”Kreel connects with read-only access. It requests three permissions from Meta:
ads_read- reads your ad accounts, campaigns, ad sets, ads, and performance metrics.pages_show_listandpages_read_engagement- used only to find the Facebook Page that owns an ad’s video creative, so Kreel can read and display that video. These are also read-only.
None of these permissions let Kreel change, pause, or delete anything in your ad account or Page.
What gets synced
Section titled “What gets synced”Structure: campaigns, ad sets, and ads, including names, status, objective, budgets, bid strategy, and targeting. For each ad, Kreel also resolves the creative: image or video thumbnail, body text, headline, link, call-to-action, and, for video ads, a playable copy of the video itself.
Performance: daily, ad-level metrics, including:
- Spend, impressions, reach, and frequency.
- Clicks, link clicks, and unique clicks.
- Video and funnel metrics: 3-second views, thruplays, view-through at 25/50/75/95/100%, and average watch time.
- Landing page views.
- Meta’s diagnostic rankings for quality, engagement rate, and conversion rate.
- Conversions: purchases, add-to-cart, checkout, and leads, each with their value.
- Derived metrics Kreel calculates from the above: CPM, CPC, CTR, ROAS, CPA, and conversion rate.
Kreel does not write anything back to Meta. It only reads data to display it back to you and to your connected AI agent.
History depth and sync cadence
Section titled “History depth and sync cadence”When you first connect Meta Ads, or run a full re-sync, Kreel progressively backfills up to 2 years of history. The most recent 30 days land first so your dashboard is usable within minutes, then Kreel works backward through older history in the background.
After that, Meta Ads syncs on its own on this cadence:
- Daily, Kreel re-syncs campaign/ad set/ad structure and the last 3 days of performance data (to catch delayed attribution).
- Weekly, Kreel re-syncs structure only.
Like other ad platforms, Meta data is reported through yesterday, not today. Today’s spend and results show up in tomorrow’s sync.
You can also trigger a sync yourself from Connections:
- Re-sync runs a routine incremental update.
- Full re-sync (up to 2 years) re-runs the full historical backfill described above. Use it if data looks missing or stale rather than for routine updates.
See Sync & data freshness for how this compares across all platforms.
Reconnecting
Section titled “Reconnecting”Meta issues Kreel a token that’s valid for about 60 days. Kreel checks and refreshes it automatically well before it expires, so in the normal case you won’t notice anything - the connection just keeps working.
If that automatic refresh ever fails, the Meta Ads row in Connections shows Reauth required. When you see that, click Re-authorize on the row and approve the Facebook login screen again. There’s no other way to recover a connection in that state.
See your data
Section titled “See your data”Once the first sync finishes:
- Open the Paid Ads section to see campaign and ad performance next to Google Ads and your store revenue.
- Open the Creative section to see your synced video and image creative with performance broken out by asset.
- Open the Performance section to see Meta Ads spend next to Shopify revenue, email, and Google Ads spend.
Connect your AI agent (optional)
Section titled “Connect your AI agent (optional)”If you use an AI assistant like Claude or ChatGPT, you can connect Kreel to it over MCP or the CLI and ask questions about your Meta Ads data directly.
Disconnect
Section titled “Disconnect”To disconnect Meta Ads, open Connections, expand the Meta Ads row, and click Revoke. Confirming stops all syncing immediately and discards the stored credentials. Synced Meta Ads data is kept for 90 days in case you reconnect, then permanently deleted.
Reconnecting the same Facebook account within that window keeps your history. Connecting a different Facebook account, or later selecting a different ad account with stored creative, replaces the previously synced data instead of keeping both.
